Genius Baby

So, I was informed by the lovely Kim that I didn't have a comments section...and what's a blog without a comments section? I think I added it correctly this time....leave a comment so I'll know for sure! :-)

Oh...did I tell you guys how smart my nephew is?!? He's only 6 months old and is a genius! When Stephanie, Eric and Aaron were in town for Marc's Emerald Point concert, I taught Aaron so much! I taught him: the names of his fingers (i.e. thumb, pinkie, etc); head, shoulders, knees and toes (knees and toes); and his left arm and right arm (by raising his arm and saying which one it was "Left...right...left....right" and I even switched it up to test him "Left...right...right again...left"). When I saw him last weekend...I quizzed him and he remembered it all! Not only that but he is reading wonderfully at a 6 month old level. Genius, I tell you!! Genius!!

yearly update :-)

So...what to write... hmm....well, since I updated my Xanga, oh, let's say once a year....  You can tell I'm a blogger at heart. :-) But I feel a little guilty... I've kept track of my friends lives through blogs, yet haven't done a good job of keeping them informed, as well. Hey, if you don't want to know about my life, that's fine...but at least if you want to, there will be more opportunity to find out what's going on with me.

Right now, there is a lot going on, actually... It's very much a transition time right now. I feel like I'm learning a lot about myself right now...some of it I like and some I don't. There are many layers being revealed that need to be shed to lead the life God wants me to lead. The past year and a half has been a little difficult with lots of changes and I've learned that I'm not always up to changing! But I know God has called Marc and me to a great destiny and change we must to prepare for our future! Not in the sense of our marriage...that's beautiful. Certainly not perfect, but beautiful and right and strong. He's my sunshine. But in the sense of our jobs, finances, connections, etc. I'll write more about those changes in the future. (hey...another blog!!!)

Quick snapshot:
Marc's band is going well...Chucksilver. (Please know this in advance...if you click on the link...the music on the page is a practice session...not saying it's bad...but it's a little rough...being that it was recording with a microphone stuck in the middle of the room). People ask what the name is for...well...for one, he always wears Chuck Taylor's! Don't ask me when he got into those...his fashion sense is every evolving...he's so funny that way! But the real reason behind the name is from Acts 3:6, when Peter says "Silver and Gold, have I none, but what I do have I give to you." So in essence, the point of the band is to connect with people, not by singing "Christian" lyrics, but by creating an open atmosphere with their music that invites people into worship with God, without them knowing that's what's going on until it happens. Some amazing stories have already come and lives have already been touched! That'll be my next blog (insert giddy smile...I have another topic, yay!). They record on Oct. 18. Their tunes on myspace will sound much better then!

I'm working my butt off right now. Like about 5-10 hours of overtime a week. It's a little rough right now, but if I don't, then I will never get my work done! I'm overwhelmed, quite truthfully. I'm just trying to work as much as I can, make as much as I can, and plan on quitting after the New Year. I need to serve people...and not the managerial sense where I feel as though I'm serving them right out the door. I'm believing that all this hard work will pay off and that God will honor the desires of my heart and there will be the perfect opportunity waiting for me. Also...since we're talking about trying to start a family next summer...working so much overtime doesn't leave much time for that. ;-)

Let's see...what else can I share with you... hmm.... I'm getting ready to help lead a "small group" at my church with 3 of my closest friends here. I'm really excited about it, it's a great concept and will start after the New Year, as well. It was God-inspired to my friend Carrie. Basically it's called Girls in the City and it's all about celebrating women and who we are in God.  Our first three months will be centered around being Women of Glamour and Beauty. We're going to kick off with a "dress-up" night to a fine dining restaurant that we have a connection to, and they are going to create a special dessert menu for us and it'll be a fun night together. Then the next meeting, our esthetician friend is going to do facials and it will be centered around taking care of ourselves. I'm not sure what the next one will be. Probably centered around Captivating. Then the next three months will be focused around another topic, such as Women of Grace, and we'll go and serve at the homeless shelter downtown for one event. Do you get the picture? It'll be a group of about 10-20 women total, with all different ages. We're still in the planning stages.

From now until New Year's is going to be so busy! We have the Seafood Festival next weekend with my family. Then, later in October, we go to Texas, where we get to meet the recipient of Marc's bone marrow...I'm super excited about that! Then Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Bonaire for New Year's!! Woohoo!! We already have the tickets!

So...that's all I feel like writing now...maybe it's a lot...I don't know. But I worked 13 hours today and am pooped! I'll leave you with some pictures, if I can figure it out...

<where did the picture go?? I added it...I wanted to add a caption... hmm (scratches head in confusion)>

Other than my confusion over the pictures (which took me a 1/2 hour to figure out how to get them where I wanted them, and I still can't figure out how to make the captions under the picture...help!), I must say this blog is very easy to maneuver. I've found others quite cumbersome.  I like...I like!!

 My rockstar husband!
